If you're having trouble keeping up with a legion of Twitter followers , then the social network's newest feature could well come in handy.

Called "Highlights", it aims to give you a twice-daily update of what it reckons are the "best tweets" culled from your follower list.

If you opt in to the service, your daily highlights will be delivered through a push notification.

"While your home timeline is a great place to browse through and engage with tweets, we know it can be challenging to find the time to get through everything," said Twitter's Gordon Luk.

"We look at things like the accounts and conversations that are popular among people you follow, tweets from people you're closely tied to, topics and events that are trending in your area or within your network, and people that are popular or trending among people you follow," Luk added.

At the moment, the service is only available on Twitter's Android app - so bad luck if you're using an iPhone.

"We're refining the experience on Android first and will consider bringing Highlights to other platforms in the future," said Luk.

You can enable the Highlights feature by tapping the three dots in the corner of the app on your Android device and selecting Settings.

If you've got multiple accounts on your device, pick which one you'd like to receive highlights for and tap Mobile Notifications. From there, tick the box that says Highlights and you'll start getting sent the notifications.
