See The World’s Fastest C7 Corvette Stingray Unleash 3,500 Hp

Sure, this 2014 C7 Corvette Stingray hasn’t retained many of its original parts, but once upon a time it did derive from an actual Chevrolet dealership. It was a 460 hp sports car stickering for around $55,000. It hit 60 mph in a speedy 3.8 seconds. The quarter-mile was eclipsed in 12 seconds flat.

And yet today, those figures seem positively puny.

That’s because this C7 has been transformed into an Outlaw 10.5 drag racer. With its 3,500 hp on tap, thanks to a giant screw-type supercharger, this car is almost certainly the fastest C7 Stingray in existence. In fact, even in its initial testing phase, it’s almost the fastest machine ever in its class.

Spearheaded by Chuck Ulsch & Gil Mobley, the transformation from production C7 began in February, 2014. It took the team longer than anticipated, and despite feeling a little rushed to make the start line, this sinister ‘Vette managed a 4.11 second pass at 188 mph on Cecil County’s eighth of a mile strip. According to the description in the video, that’s just 0.2 seconds shy of the all-time Outlaw 10.5 record.

This class of drag racing limits competitors to 10.5 inch slick rear tires and a stock firewall and suspension, according to Autoevolution. The car must weigh at least 3,000 lbs. and not boast a single one of Dom Toretto’s nitrous bottles. What you can do, however, is shoehorn any engine you want and ramp up the boost until it explodes.

As for the interior, this is a full-on racer; there’s nothing left that resembles the original car from which it derived. On the outside, though, the bodywork even boasts functioning C7 headlamps and all the panels are stock minus the front end which needed custom building as one piece.

As the team becomes more familiar with their new car, we may be looking at a new record holder for the Outlaw 10.5 class. For now, though, we’ll have to settle for the world’s fastest C7.
